Character Chao are, as their name implies, chao that look like characters from the game. There are three official, and two unofficial, that look just like the characters that they resemble. The official ones are the Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Chao, which can only be obtained through Action Replay or GameShark, with the exception of the Tails Chao, which can be obtained from PSO (Phantasy Star Online). You could have also gotten them in the convention in Japan a few years back. The two unofficial chao are the Sonic Chao and Shadow Chao, which are made by certain evolutions.
Sonic Chao - Get a blue chao, and raise it to be a Neutral/Run/Run Chao.

Shadow Chao - Get a Red Twotone by mating a Red Chao and a Regular Chao, and raise it to be a Dark/Run/Run, or a Dark/Run/Power.
